It's My Birthdayyyy

Heyyy guys, its my birthday today! Wohoo! I joined the "do a birthday video shoot" bandwagon this time around but I decided to do things a bit differently and not use the staple number balloons people usually use. Instead I DIYed the numbers using gold paper and stuck them to straws.
I love love love this dress. I got it from a Solace London sample sale some months ago after Fisayo of Mirror Me posted on Instagram that they were having a sale. I snapped up some other goodies and can't wait to wear them. Someone please invite me for events so they don't rot in my wardrobe. :)

DIY - Rose Hairband

This post is at least one year late. I know, I know, it is very poor of me. But you know what they say, better late than never :)

I got this rose bouquet when I was a bridesmaid at my cousin's wedding last year. It's really pretty so at first I used it as a decoration in my room, then the idea came into my head to make it into a hairband and see how it turned out.

Here's how I made it.

Things I used:
- Bouquet
- Elastic band
- Glue
- Scissors

Removed the rose from the stem
Put the elastic band around my head and cut it from the roll
Glued the ends of the elastic band together
Glued the elastic band to the bottom of the rose. Finito!

I'm going to do more DIY projects as I really enjoy doing things like this. I just need to find the time for it.

Have a great weekend guys.

Love,
Segi

DIY - Turn your Poncho into a Blouse

Do you have a poncho, a long scarf,  pashmina or a wrap? In a few steps you can turn it into a blouse.

I've had this poncho for a while now and it has gotten too cold to wear it as a cover so I started thinking of what I could do with it. Check out the styles I came up with.

Style 1- Asymmetric Blouse

What you need:
Needle
Thread
Measuring tape

To achieve this style I folded the poncho into a triangle. I measured my shoulder width, then tacked the right side of the folded poncho together (not the base of the folded poncho, think of how a triangle is shaped) with my needle and thread using my shoulder measurement (basically, use your shoulder measurement as a guide to know where to tack the poncho. Start from the top of the angle down to the slant of the fold. Where your measurement stops is where you tack). This is where your head will come out of.

I also tacked about 15cm after the initially tacked spot to create a hole for my right arm to go through.

Style 2 - Wrap Blouse

This style is very easy to do and didn't require any sewing. All you have to do to achieve this style is wear your poncho/scarf/pashmina over your shoulders like you'll normally do. Then cross one side over the other and take both ends to your back and tie it. It's that simple.

What do you guys think? Would you try this?

Houndstooth Poncho - New Look
Trousers - H&M
Skirt - Miss Selfridge
Shoes- Zara

Have a blessed week guys.
